There is a small clip snapped onto the shaft. Put a screwdriver between the clip and the shaft and apply pressure to the clip, pushing away from the shaft.

Decent pitch and bat game and I picked one up on the cheap as well last year. Does yours have the 8 track player? Mine didn’t but I found one a few months back that I just started to work on for the sound.
