These marks exist     to allow the printer companies and governments to track and identify     you &#8212; presumably as a way to combat money counterfeiting. When one     person asked his printer manufacturer about turning off the tracking     dots, Secret Service agents showed up at his door several days     later.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The global explanation and the list of affected printers is here : <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.seeingyellow.com\/\">www.seeingyellow.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Something to see with 9\/11 event ?<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE : here are some examples from a printer I can play with :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dotmana.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/hp_2600n_texte_test.jpg\">original paper without any post filter<\/a> : you can zoom but you won&#8217;t see anything<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dotmana.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/hp_2600n_texte_test_YD.jpg\">paper with yellow post filter<\/a> : you can zoom and you will see the famous yellow dots<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dotmana.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/hp_2600n_texte_test_YD_bw.jpg\">paper with yellow + b&#038;w filter<\/a> : you can see the grid of spying dots without zoom !<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unbelievable, I just discovered that my printer was spying me !
