Adobe InDesign CS2 : Missing required system fonts or cmap files

The soluce :

missing files archive : reqrd.zip

The attached archive contains the CMaps and Base folders that contain the files that you are most likely missing. Just unzip the files using an unzip program such as winzip, winrar, or Windows built in archive program. Make sure inDesign is not running. Delete the CMaps and Base folders in your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\Reqrd folder, and copy these new folders in their place. Simply run inDesign and you should no longer be presented with the error message.

  6. You should try again, the zip file is not corrupted when I test it…

  7. Will this effect other Adobe programs such as Illustrator and Photoshop currently installed on the computer?

  8. @Dave : no, I didn’t notice any side effects. These files correct wrong files installed by corrupted InDesign setup.

  9. Thank you so much. I really apreciate that you do not just said how to fix the problem instead put the “Missing Files” too in a .ZIP!!!
I looked for the “adobe sams font” for a long-long while!

I couldn’t find these files thank you again! =D

  12. Sinclair? Hi,
I have d/loaded the zip file and extracted it but when I have gone into files of InDesign the fonts folder only has one folder in it, called CompositeFont, and this is empty. In the main Indesign folder there is a folder called ‘required’ but this does not contain either ‘base’ or ‘CMaps’ folder. There is a ‘font’ folder in ‘required’ but this contains a few files only. Did a search on the InDesign folder and neither comes up. Can you help at all please?… canI just install the ‘base’ or ‘CMaps’ somewhere or will that mess the whole thing up?.
    Many, many thanks in advance.

  13. OK shoot me. I’m sorry, please totally ignore my previous post. I had my stupid head on and was looking in the wrong place. Have followed your instructions properly now and found that the base folder was there but no CMaps so I just copied that file and now it is working properly. Thank you very much, a lot of heartache avoided now. :o)

  14. thank heavens adobe has people like you out there who actually know enough about it and have the intelligence to fix it

    thanks millions from another dummy

  17. Thank you very much Nicolas!
Although this information was posted almost 5 years ago, this has worked for me! Considering I have both CS2 and CS4 on my machine!
    Well done.

  18. I could not find the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\Reqrd folder to delete and replace the CMaps and Base folders. Where are they? If there are not old versions to delete, can I just put the CMaps & Base folders
somewhere in the Indesign Folder? This version of Indesign has been working,
in my older computer but got this message when I put it into my MacBook Pro,
    OS 10.6.8
    Thanks!
    Sara

  19. Wish I’d have found this before fighting with Adobe for 2 days, installing, reinstalling and still not finding a fix to “missing required system fonts or CMAP files.” Thank YOU!

  20. I dont seem to have the same folder. I get as far as the ‘Adobe’ location..after that I have a ‘fonts’ folder, ‘fontsRequired’ and ‘fontsrecommended’ folder. Inside of just ‘fonts’ there are no other folders to drop the cmap and base folder into. I have a PC when I looked at a friends PC with a working Indesign, they didn’t even have a plane ‘fonts folder’ AHHH help
