Export GoPro videos using OpenShot

Openshot is great, but when it comes to export GoPro video, there is no correct ratio (4/3, HD, while most HD format are 16/10).

But you can create a new Profile in:

Edit, Profiles

Generate profile:

  • Name: GoPro HD
  • Size: 1280×960
  • Ratio aspect: 4 / 3
  • Ratio pix: 1/1
  • Frames per sec: 30000/1001
  • Progressive

And another one (smaller)

  • Name: GoPro
  • Size: 960×720
  • Ratio aspect: 4 / 3
  • Ratio pix: 1/1
  • Frames per sec: 30000/1001
  • Progressive

Using theses profiles, you wont have windowboxes video when using R4 mode with Hero HD from GoPro.

Motherboard problem: Change capacitors

I’ve experience issues with my Acer X1700 only after two years of used.

The problem was: random kernel panic, while memtest86 ran successfully.

I then open the case, found out capacitors (close to ram) where bulgy.

Measuring the voltage, shown lot of noise around 2V.
I then salvaged from an old mobo 2 capacitor (remember, at least same voltage and capacity).

And solder the new one, and check the tension: everything is fine now and then.

Seems to be a plague, such a problem, it’s mainly translated in ….

One word only: ChinaWonderland……

Go Pro Hero HD arm, leg, wrist, knee mount (DIY, Howto)

Here is a slight modification made to the original strap: how to use the quick release instead of the bolt+nut used with the head-strap.
This is the original head-strap:

First, remove the protruding part from the head-mount to get a flat surface.

Then cut around the Quick Release from the black plastic plate. (you can also use the flat sticky mount too, but I prefered to save it).

Glue them altogether using preferably epoxy (two compound).

And voila:

Then, finally, you can remove the extra strap by pushing it through the chink.

Usable anywhere:

To get amazing shot like this, and be able to swap it from leg to helmet in mater of second instead of losing the nuts in the sand…. (dunno what mechanics engineers were thinking about when designing this part)

Archos 405 Gen 5: hack and add UBS host female connector

Archos Gen5 have USB host capability, but no way for me to pay 30 extra bucks to get it, and it’s still an extra accesory to carry along (Mac-like….).

So, I just follow this cable extension schematic, and solder inside 4 cable for the usb, and a 220kohms resistor. Then nicely dremeled and glued.
